I did ok yesterday. I am proud to say I had ZERO panic attacks yesterday! I refused to allow emotions to take over at all while we were at my mom's... "emotion-shutdown" is what I call it.
Which looks bad to other people, actually, but it protected me at least. What I mean is, at one point my son and mom were crying about something and I didn't react at all, not even to comfort. I could not. I just walked out of the room. I had to drive home soon and the last thing I needed was an emotion-meltdown and panic attack.
So, yeah - I was a callous, uncaring, selfish individual yesterday. Which, of course, has me feeling quite guilty this morning. Cannot win, no matter what!
There is a now-tropical storm, about-to-become-hurricane, Danny headed up the coast of the US. The projected path has Danny's Eye passing just off the coast of Long Island, maybe right over it on Saturday. Either way, we'll be feeling the effects - wind, rain, etc. Hopefully not tornados (which, if you are a loyal reader, you probably know I have a plan for, lol - but would probably not have time to actually put into motion!) I doubt it will be a very strong storm, from what they are predicting now... but "THEY" are not always correct. I need to get to the store today and stock up on a few things, just in case, so I am glad that MIL is coming over here today.
And that's what's a happenin' here

I'm glad you didn't have any panic attacks while you were at your mom's :)
ReplyDeleteI don't think you should feel guilty for being emotionally detached, everyone gets like that sometimes, and besides it was far better than the alternative - for all concerned - so your "emotional shutdown" was not at all selfish, in my opinion.
I hope the hurricane isn't too bad.
They are predicting Danny to be a Category 1 by the time it reaches here, but MIL reminded me that Gloria was only a Cat 1 - and that hit us pretty hard here.
ReplyDeleteNot sure if she is right... Wikipedia (and others) says Gloria was a Cat 3 when it hit us here... but then there is this quote that says it was a Cat 1 but upgraded after the fact to a Cat 2 - so it is all confusing...
"*Hurricane category is typically assigned based on the maximum sustained wind speed. Gloria hit Long Island with a maximum sustained wind speed of 85 mph which meant it was officially assigned to category 1. However, due to the rapid forward speed of the storm, winds to the east of the eye were 110+ mph which would place Gloria as a category 2 storm. Therefore, Hurricane Gloria is now officially considered a category 2 storm."
Funny (as in strange)... my sister's "Sweet 16" party was canceled due to Gloria... now another of her milestone birthdays is this weekend (40th) and it might be plagued with Danny. LOL
I'm all stocked up on stuff that does not need cooking now, at least, lol. We'll eat dry cereal for a few days till the power goes back on if it hits hard!
